Kingsley Appiagyei Kingsley Appiagyei, BUGB President Elect


Kingsley Appiagyei is senior minister at Trinity Baptist Church in West Norwood. He started the church in a home in South Norwood with eight people. Through God's leading, Trinity Baptist has experienced tremendous growth over the years and despite starting several church plants from the congregation, the membership now exceeds 2,000, making it the second largest church in the Union (the largest is Calvary Charismatic Baptist Church in Plaistow, East London, which is one of Kingsley's church plants).


Kingsley has a passion for the family, and is currently engaged in activities internally within Trinity and externally with a weekly television programme, which seek to promote family values and address issues facing ethnic minority families. He is also leading Trinity Baptist Church in helping to build an orphanage complex in Ghana, which will provide a place for orphans to live and go to school, as well as providing a well-equipped clinic and vocational school. He is committed to helping others develop their potential, with a particular emphasis on mentoring emerging leaders within Trinity. His church has sent a number of ministers to Spurgeon's College and on into Baptist ministry.


Originally from Ghana, Kingsley is a British citizen and is married to Cynthia. They have four daughters: Genevieve, Ruth, Esther and Davina.

 

Lauran Bethell Lauran Bethell


Lauran Bethell has been working for more than two decades on behalf of and caring for women and children who have been exploited and abused. Currently she serves as a consultant with grassroots organisations, encouraging the development of new projects and networks which are dealing with the issues of prostitution, trafficking of persons and other forms of abuse and exploitation. A global consultant with International Ministries of the American Baptist Churches, USA and, based in the Netherlands, she travels extensively throughout Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas, teaching, preaching and consulting.


Lauran was honoured in 2005 with the Human Rights Award of the Baptist World Alliance, which was presented to her during the BWA Congress in Birmingham by President Jimmy Carter. She serves on the Anti-Trafficking Committee of the European Baptist Federation (EBF), providing resources to EBF unions in an effort both to prevent trafficking and offer after-care to victims.

 

Neville Callam Neville Callam, General Secretary of the Baptist World Alliance (BWA)


Neville Callam has been BWA General Secretary since 2007. A Jamaican, Neville was a BWA vice president from 2000 to 2005 and is a previous treasurer and president of the Jamaica Baptist Union and former vice president of the Caribbean Baptist Fellowship. Neville founded, managed, and chaired the board of the religious radio station, The Breath of Change (TBC FM), was a founding director of the National Religious Media Company of Jamaica which operates LOVE FM and LOVE TV, and was chairman of the board of the Public Broadcasting Corporation of Jamaica, a public statutory organisation. An ordained minister since 1977, he gave his life to the Lord in his teen years. Neville has served the East Queen Street Circuit of churches in Jamaica as assistant pastor and the Grace/Mineral Heights and Tarrant/Balmagie circuits as senior pastor.


Neville is married to Dulcie, his wife of more than 30 years, and they have two adult children, son, Gairy, and daughter, Deidre.

 

Jonathan Edwards Jonathan Edwards, BUGB General Secretary


Jonathan has been General Secretary of the Baptist Union of Great Britain since 2006. Prior to that, he was General Superintendent and then Regional Team Leader for the South Western Baptist Association for nine years. He has had pastorates at Southgate Church and Orpington Baptist Church. Jonathan has also been a regular speaker at Spring Harvest for a number of years. 


Jonathan is married to Sue and they have three children: Hannah, Thomas, and Bethany.

 

Pat Took Pat Took, London Baptist Association Team Leader


Pat Took has been Metropolitan Superintendent and then Regional Minister Team Leader of the London Baptist Association since 1998. She was called to Baptist ministry in the 1980s and served in East London as minister of Cann Hall and Harrow Green Baptist Church, Leytonstone from 1985-1998.


Pat is married to John, Professor of Dante Studies at University College London, and has three married children and five grandchildren. Outside of work, music is her greatest delight.
