BMS World Mission

BMS World Mission is a Christian mission organisation working in over 30 countries across four continents. We aim to share life in all its fullness with the world’s peoples by working mostly in the areas of: • church planting • development • disaster relief • education • health • media & advocacy   This means of help and salvation comes from our biggest asset – ordinary people – all of whom are Christians from churches in the UK and overseas. People are key in inspiring and resourcing others. They include gap year students going on an Action Team, individuals and couples joining one of our many volunteer programmes and those who commit to going for longer – anything from two years to a lifetime.

BMS is one of the world’s oldest Protestant mission organisations, founded in 1792 by the Baptist minister and shoe-maker, William Carey, known as the father of modern mission.   BMS has longstanding relationships with partner organisations, umbrella mission agencies and local church unions in the countries in which we work. We also work in partnership with the Baptist Unions of England, Scotland and Wales. This annual Baptist Assembly is an outworking of the relationship with the BUGB, and an undertaking we’re delighted to be involved in.
