The Birth of Baptists in Europe   For many people in our Baptist churches the names Thomas Helwys and John Smyth are completely unknown, as are the events of the early 1600s in which they were key players. On the DVD Thomas Helwys (played by Andrew Harrison) tells, from his cell in Newgate Prison, the story behind the formation of the first Baptist congregation in Holland in 1609. The film was produced by BMS World Mission to mark the 400th anniversary of Baptist witness in Europe and was first shown at the 2009 Baptist Assembly in England.
